I am using Avast Free on several hard discs running Windows XP without any problems, all fresh installs. When I put a fresh system on a SSD, the Avast installation will not terminate, it hangs. When I force reboot, the Avast install appears to be OK.
I have tried this on a fresh install on a Samsung 850 pro 128 gig and an Intel 535 120 gig. Both have the same install problem with Avast free.
Am I missing some technique or is there an instability problem with Avast and SSD’s ?
I too would like to see the link/thread that was referred above…could be quit helpful…thx !
I can’t speak for “avast” & SSD but there is known “gotchas” of upgrading to SSDs in legacy PCs (e.g. BIOS vs UEFI, GPT vs MBR).
You really need to Google your specific system and see if others have upgraded and steps associated…there are items you need to address on how you setup during install linked to your firmware config & SSD file system selection.
