Avast Free - Suggestion to the user interface (UI)

I am new to Avast Free. I have v7.0.1466.549 installed. So far, everything appears to be okay. However, I have an issue with the “update” portion (or shield). Right now, I do all my updating to anything (if possible) manually. Such is the same for Avast Free. The issue this. I have the Avast update settings set to “ask when an update is available”. And, I guess, this is not a real problem. However, now I have a triangle w/exclamation mark telling me I am not fully protected. Say what ??!! I want to suggest a change to Avast Free that when “ask when an update is available” to indicate that Avast is protected. This setting (if I am correct) is to let the user know that there are updates available. When checked, this should not detract from the fact that “supposedly” the user is protected but just requires the user to select, download and install any updates. So, what say you? Thanks for listening.

You can adjust that in the settings.

The only thing I can do to remove the yellow triangle is to set updates to “automatic”. Neither the “manual” nor the “ask when update is available” setting will remove this yellow triangle from the systray icon. And, any update setting other than “automatic” is indicating in the main UI page that the “definitions auto update” is “OFF”. Then, along with what I was attempting to submit, it to indicate in the UI page something that tells the user the current setting and not just say “OFF”! I think you may know what I am attempting to get across. So … there it is.

avast! GUI → Settings → Statusanzeige (Sorry, I’m on the German version.)
Uncheck the last box there and click OK.

Ok then … got it. I was almost about to ask uncheck where ? Anyway, thanks for the assist. I guess, in a way, this matter is now RESOLVED.

You’re welcome.

You can use the Modify button in your first post and add [RESOLVED] to the Subject.
