Avast Free: Update Program available but already have latest version

Running Windows XP SP3 with Avast free version 6.0.1203.

Under update I have

A new version of the program is available! Latest Program version: 0.0.0

The only reason I am concerned about this is because I think that this might be the reason my PC is crashing. Everything else seems to be fine.

Windows security is also giving me a message saying that my anti-virus program is out of date.

try avast repair, and reboot

For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
