I seem to remember that Avast automatically updated, but now it is not doing so.
I have checked “Automatic update” in the Settings, but am having to manually update.
What does “enable streaming updates” mean ?
Comments please.

Do you mean program update / or VPS

Program and virus definitions updates
Avast free program version = 17.3.2291 (build 17.3.3443.0) release date 30/3/17
Virus definitions version = 170331-1 release date 31/3/17
I have now unchecked the streaming updates box, have I done wrong ? It was checked up to now.

Well, it depends on what you’re trying to achieve…!?
Achieve ? I want the updates to be automatic like they have been for many months until recently.
In order to achieve that, do I or do I not check the “enable streaming updates” box ?
I do not have a “repair” only “remove” or “change”.

Is this a multi option single button (as used in old OS versions) ?
Using/selecting the Change option will display another window that should have Repair on that.

I assume checked means enabled / ON
so you dont want stream updates? it means you recive updates evry 5-15 minutes
Program updates are spread over weeks to ease server load
I will certainly let you know if my updating resume on automatic. It may take a while, but you deserve to know. Thanks.

Please stick with your own topic https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=199843.0 and not post in multiple topics.
Posting in your topic has the function of:
- Bringing it to the top of the chronological order.
- It also sends notifications to those who have posted in that topic, that there are new posts.
- It keeps all of the information in one place.
You should have got one such notification as I have posted in your own topic.
I promised to report back and here it is.
As of 4/4 my Avast is up-to-date on virus definitions and program. I have not done any updating so it must now be automatic and working normal.
I would like to particularly thank Asyn for the suggestion made to “repair” the program. I am absolutely certain this cured the problem.
But thanks to you all for your generous replies to my post.
