I have only got the free avast virus protection on my system at the moment as I cannot afford a full version right now. However, it keeps saying there is a virus on my computer, recent one being Trojan. My problem with this is that whenever avast detects a virus, it NEVER is able to repair it. It just keeps saying the file could not be repaired.
Is the free version a waste of space? Also how can I get rid og this Trojan virus on my own ?
You cannot repair worms or trojans (currently very active type of malware).
If the file is entirely made of malicous code, you cannot fix anything.
If its real infection (code added to legitim files),you can repair it via VRDB database.
In fact, quite few files can be repaired after infection with ‘any’ antivirus. Did you install avast! recently? You should run VRDB (virus recovery database) to be able to recover, at least, some executables.
The majority of the infections that you are calling virus are, in fact, trojans. They are not a ‘file’ and then can’t be repaired but, don’t worry, the majority of the times you can just delete the worm 8)
Of course not!
You’re dealing with the same capacity of detection and cleaning than the Professional one. To clean by your own, click on ‘Virus Clean’ on my signature
Can you post the name and the path of the virus?
Which is your OS?
I have a question,In the Glossary it states that an I should appear next to the clock and this is the recovery files icon,I have never had any such icon appear ,just the one or two avast icons depending on how I set VRB up,Am I not Understandiing something correctly?
Did you merge the i icon into the a one?
I mean, is there a submenu for VRDB into the a icon? Right click it and see…
When merged the i icon is only visible while VRDB is being generated
Oh, if you have XP, be sure the icon is not ‘disable’ or ‘hidden’… click on the triangle that shows hidden icons…
