Avast! free version wont install

Hello,

i am new to these forums, and am sorry if i have posted in the wrong place.

Basically my problem is that whenever i go to install Avast! the bar becomes fully green as if the set up is completed, but i got a messaged on the install screen saying
“vcredist_x86_sp1.exe”

Now recently i have had problems installing an anti virus, i cant install any type of anti virus at the moment, but i really want Avast! so i thought i would post on here.

Any know of any other ways to install/download Avast! ?
Or any way to fix my error ?

In order to help you, first I need some information from you:

  1. What is your OS, 32 or 64-bit?
  2. What version of Avast did you install? 5.0.677 is the current version.
  3. What product of Avast did you install? Free, Pro, AIS?
  4. What other security software do you currently have or did you have in the past on this machine including antivirus (AV), firewall (FW), and other security programs? If they were in the past (including trial versions), how did you remove them (the vendor’s uninstaller’s tool or another way)?

Very often, remnants of other security software prevent other AV’s from being installed. Other reasons are using pirated versions of software and malware.

Is your machine acting normally otherwise? Are you using a legit version of Windows? When did you notice the problem of not being able to install any AV? Thank you.
