Why is it, that whenever I turn on my desktop my Windows (Win 10) Firewall is disabled and will refuse to be enabled until I have completed an Avast Smart Scan?
Is this some kind of Avast marketing pushing me to buy an Avast product? Currently, it certainly seems so.
I “fixed” the app yesterday thinking that might be the cause but no, the same has happened twice today.
Perhaps it’s time to leave Avast behind.
First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.
When you install Avast Antivirus, Windows will disable both the Defender (antivirus and Firewall) in the windows settings you should be able to have Defender as on-demand only.
Having two active firewalls or Antivirus programs running will conflict, as they fight for control.
You may notice from the information below my posts, that I use Windows 10 Home 64bit. Defender is disabled as is the Windows Firewall. I don’t get any such adverts.
Note I DO NOT run Smart or other On-Demand scans.
With a resident (on-access) scanner the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.
