Depending on what system you are using as to if you can remove defender as you can only do this on xp, vista and win 7 is best to disable but it does not conflict with avast and like Pondus mentioned malwarebytes is the better combo to have with avast, you have the free version and the pro for $25 lifetime license.
From my signature you can see what I am using. Others here choose to use Malwarebytes rather than SAS.
As far as know there is no conflict running either
Avast Free, Pro or AIS, WD and Malwarebytes - all real-time
Avast Free, Pro or AIS, WD and SAS - all real-time
Regarding WD.
It is a bit of a memory hog.
Since I started using the combination above WD in real-time has identified and deleted two malware files that AIS and SAS missed in real-time. I never run WD scans. I tested it and found that while the Quick Scan did not take too long the complete scan took a very long time.
Is WD worth keeping enabled if you are using AIS or Avast? I think it depends on how much free memory you are left with when running them together. I don’t know about Malwarebytes but the SAS memory usage when run real-time is insignificant.
Please go to PROFILE then Modify Profile then Forum Profile Information then select your country in Please select your country: then update your Signature: with information like my signature as this helps the helpers offer pertinent advice then you won’t have to keep entering “I am running Windows 7 64 Bit”.
There would be no conflict with running defender with either SAS or MBAM in realtime but it is totally pointless since defenders detection’s are rubbish and it’s only using up resources, avast also scan’s for spyware as well as SAS and MBAM if your using the pro version’s, if your only using the free versions of those two program’s i would probably still disable defender as it is that bad.
The proof is in the pudding it’s useless kenny and you know it, in over ten year’s iv never seen defender detect anything so experience is my proof and im sure that most of the other evang’s would agree with me.
Does any of the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware users here find that it slows your computer down a little bit?
I installed the Pro version and it seems like I am seeing the Windows Hour Glass a tad longer on things then I was before install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro.
Like for example if I click the volume icon in the system tray. It seems to take maybe an extra second or two to open.
