AVAST!free won't scan its own files

If I initiate a scan manually, the usual result is No Threats Found.

For several days now however, the scan results of the scheduled daily scan shows at least 8-30 “system cannot find specified path(3)”.
Examples:
C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\defs\13053000_stream\pkg\130503000000000.28 bin, 24 bin, 1b bin, 1e bin, and on and on.
C:\Users\nowfaith\AppData\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache\f_0029aepkg\13060200000000011.bin, and on with 25 more “bins”.

The icon in the lower right of the taskbar says the system is secured; however, when I click on Account in the upper right of the avast!free window, the online account says “unsecured” with a red X symbol.

I have 8.0.1489, 130603-1 def version, expiring 4-16-2014.
Using an HP g7 laptop, Windows 7 64 bit, IE9 and Chrome 27.0.1453.94m

I mostly use Chrome, but I’m not signed in; it is NOT my default browser and I will not make it default.

What’s happening here?
Thanks for a reply.

system cannot find specified path(3)".
welll.....very difficult to scan files it cant find. ;)
C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\defs\13053000_stream\pkg\130503000000000.28 bin, 24 bin, 1b bin, 1e bin, and on and on.
this one is on avast definition folder....usually happens if you scan just after avast have done a cleanup in def folder

anyway, files that can not be scanned for whatever reason avast give, are just that…a file that cant be scanned
it does not mean it is infected, avast is just giving you a scan error report

It isn’t that it won’t scan them, but they are no longer there after avast housekeeping. These are streaming update files and once avast receives the next virus definitions update (VPS) which contains these streaming updates then the old streaming updates are removed.

Thank you for replying; I understanding is clearer…apologies for being so ignorant.

Please explain why the online Account says my device is “unsecured” with the red X and the “security status” is OFF for the one device that is listed, NowFaith-HP Windows 7 64 bit?

You’re welcome, now you know.
With a resident antivirus, the need for old school on-demand scans is much depreciated, the more frequently you scan the more likely to bump into housekeeping, etc.

If for any reason you don’t have a connection (can possibly be back-end server related) then your system can’t pass the data to the account. I’m able to connect and all mine are shown correctly.

Try disconnecting from the account on the effected system and then reconnect.

Nothing has worked, but I’ll tackle it later. I’ll combine the two laptops I have (one is W7 and another is XP) in one account and go from there.

Thank you again.
