Avast Free won't start

Hey guys. I recently refreshed my PC on the recommendation of Essexboy due to some windows files being corrupt and non-fixable without a refresh. I lost almost all the apps including all of the Anti-Malware stuff I had. eg: MBAM, Avast, MCShield, Adwcleaner. when I reinstalled Avast I started getting Error messages about the AvastUI.exe not being able to be loaded. Is this just me or is it a known bug? I’d rather not go AV-less. If someone could help me that’d be awesome.

how did you do it… did you use a factory CD/ HD partition and sett it back to factory specc?
or did you use a windows CD?

if you sett it back to factory specc… does that mean you also recovered a factory installed trail AV like Norton / McAfee / TrendMicro ?

if so, this must be uninstalled before installing avast
when done, run the vendors removal tool to clear any leftover files that may conflict.

Windows 8 Reinstall disc. My computer didn’t come with anything except Windows Defender. But WD has never been an issue in my experience with Avast.
