avast Free - you must be connected to internet to view'

jUST loaded avast on machine. using XP. Avast is working but when I try to view browser scan and remove browser scan items, I get the message ‘you must be connected to the internet to view’. Also, when I get this popup, I cannot get out of avast. I can still get into the internet , run other programs but this popup is still there. When I try to X out of avast, I get a beeping noise and nothing happens.

What was your previous AV and how did you remove it ?
Which version of XP are you using ??? SP3 ???

Using SP2…Previous AV was AVG. Removed it by using the ‘uninstall’ process in the AVG sorftware. Also, to remove the popup, I have to reboot

Requirements call for SP3. You also need to use the removal tool for AVG to remove the leftovers not removed through add/remove.
