hi there i am looking for a free antivirus for my offline pc which uses xp pro 32 bit , for the last 6 months i have had this particular pc offline and don`t intend going back online , i do use it for working on but i am worried just incase i may have picked up a pc nasty . i do still have norton internet security installed but i want to take it off because it is constantly trying to get online to update and the constant reminders are very anoying ,i would like to try avast where is the recomended download for avast free. thanks

is it possible to get updates of previous versions because i`ve been offline for 6 month now , how often do they release manual updates ?
what do you mean?
when downloading an installing the full VPS (virus updates) then you have it all, how often they releas a new i do not know
if that computer is not online and you dont connect any device to it that have been online (usb stick / harddrive / camera ) …then no worry
VPS are usually auto updated twice a day, some days have more and some days have none…depends what happens out in the virus world
and the there is streaming updates that are released when they need it
ok thanks i will just give it a go , i thought i may be able to get an update from 6 months ago ,that is when my pc was last online ,my xp updates are now 6 months old and i just want to keep the pc in that kind of state cause it is working good at the minute , new updates might have windows 8 compatability bugs . i don`t know . thanks

When you update the vps, avast will update “all” of the updates that have taken place since you last updated.
