I have just had to go back to a system restore, and my Avast free now tells me that my Avast Pro trial period has not been activated.
I have NOT used the Pro trial, so what has happened please. And how do I get back to the free version?
My sig says it all about my technical knowledge.

Been using free version for years and all of a sudden it tells me I have to renew. ???
I go in and look and choose the free one (that does not indicate it is a trial) and do not choose the free 30 day trial.
After download complete, it then tells me I have 30 days on my free trial. :-\
avast does not like system restore… befor using that you need to turn off avast self protection

uninstall with this…read instructions. http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
download and install again. http://www.avast.com/download-software

Although I did uninstal via the Add/Remove then rebooted before instaling the free version.
Seemed to work OK
