I was having this issue with the free version so I uninstalled three times with the same issue. So now I have upgraded to Pro and the issue continues.
Whenever I try a full scan, Avast begins scanning normally, proceeds testing files and folders for about a minute and then stops. it wont scan past 1%. It freezes at a certain point and does not scan any further. This is even after I tried updating to the latest version and definitions.
Right now, the scan has stopped with the “Processing file” indicator showing “SVC: .NET CLR Data > ???”. On restarting the scan it stopped when processing something called “SVC: .NET Data Provider for Oracle > ???”. Previous times it happened when processing different things, but I noticed all of them start with the letters “SVC”.
I just paid for an upgrade but I can’t conduct a complete scan on my system. Would a virus cause this? As I stated I had Avast Free version which stated i was free of viruses but I can not complete a full scan.
Uninstall Avast by control panel [If you don’t have Avast in control Panel go to #4]
Uninstall in safe mode using Avastclear.
Run Rejzors Uninstall Utility in Normal Mode (removes traces avastclear doesn’t) - reboot.
Check : Once uninstalled check in device manager>view>show hidden devices if there is anything related to avast with a yellow triangle… if so, uninstall it and reboot.
Well, I’ve got the same issue, even after all the procedures recommended by the Avast! gurus It didn’t worked so I realised that my HD had some issues, I’ve backup all my files and performed a Scandisk… When back to the Avast! it worked fine!!!
