AVAST FULL OF BUGS AND NO SUPPORT

i can’t believe that this software can lead to so many install and uninstall. It’s obvious their software development team and beta testers need to be sacked and replaced as soon as possible. I’ve had so many problems with this software and lost so much work time I should send AVAST a bill for my lost time working. Do they have just one computer and one operating system they test the new software on? That is the only logical explanation for all of these errors. It looks like I’m not the only one. For Christ sake spend more time developing the software properly and dam well TEST IT!!! Cut down on all the expensive advertising and spend some money on the software.

I also can’t believe you guys want to charge for a program to clean up a a customer’s computer with all of your junk files on. Really where do you get off. Support is non existent unless you want to pay some ransom money to Avast to get PREMIUM SUPPORT. How about just a STANDARD SUPPORT? A forum is a poor choice to get support. How about direct email? Is that too hard?

Any kiddie scripter can write software to evade this software. Well I’m done wasting my time on this second rate software. I’m off to find a decent antivirus which will actually install and work properly and where I can get decent support without the blackmail. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

There is, as you call it, standard support.
For the users of the free products it is right here on this board.
For the users of paid products there is also the ticket (email) system.

I agree that avast should test more/better as well as not releasing things as beta while they are barely alpha versions.

Beta testers?
I’ve never seen one for avastn, only people who installed a so called beta version to.only use it as if it was a final release.

Hm, ok… If you have so little confidence in avast!, then why are you even trying to use it then? Just wondering…

Yes well as I was saying… Avast can’t even protect itself let alone it’s customers. :-

“On Monday, Cisco’s Talos security research division revealed that hackers sabotaged the ultra-popular, free computer-cleanup tool CCleaner for at least the last month, inserting a backdoor into updates to the application that landed in millions of personal computers. That attack betrayed basic consumer trust in CCleaner-developer Avast, and software firms more broadly, by lacing a legitimate program with malware —one distributed by a security company, no less.”

WIRED MAGAZINE.

Hmmm can’t seem to find any mention of this on Avast website either. No surprise there. I rest my case.

Wired should have gotten the facts straight before publishing.
It wasn’t Cisco who revealed it, but a entirely different company.
avast is not the developer of CCleaner.
The attack on Piriform was already going on before avast bought Piriform.
avast was able to take down the CnC servers before any harm was done to the users systems which very clearly shows that they can and are protecting themselves, products and the users systems.

If you can’t find it on their website, it doesn’t mean that it’s not there.

So here we have a company, Piriform, now owned by Avast being hacked and yet I haven’t received any emails warning me about this problem from either software product. I have to read about it in the press first. No direct notifications. I’m still waiting. Do urgent warnings only go to those with paid support or do they miss out as well?

And what was i saying about Avast customer service? Oh yes there is none unless you have deep pockets then feel free to phone whenever you like. Otherwise it’s to the back of the bus for you peasant.

CCleaner has been one of the best “free” and “paid for” software programs I have used over the years. It simply worked straight up. Never had a reason to call support…ever!!!

Wonder how long it will take for Avast to totally screw up this perfectly good software as well?

Bets anyone?

Thanks for the link. Unfortunate that a notice is simply contained in a blog. Unfortunately its not part of my daily routine to check this site.

Fact is that you didn’t had to get the info from a third party.
Fact also is that you completely wrong about the support.
There is free support for all users.

You’re welcome.
