Avast full scan

Is it suppose to take over 6 hours to run a full scan? I ran a full scan and after 6 hours it only completed a 30% scan. I have on my C drive ((763 GB free of 918 GB. ))) So not much being used. I can’t have my computer tied up all day over a scan. SO WHAT THE HELL IS THE PROBLEM.

Well we/I don’t know if you were running the Full Scan on the default settings ?

We also don’t know if you might have any other security based software that could impact the scan ?
Nor do you mention your system specs, so it really is hard to say if there is a problem or not.

That 6 hours would be considered excessive if on default settings, no other security software installed and reasonable system specs.

With a resident (on-access) scanner the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.

So my personal choice is not to run on demand scans outside of testing and in response to some forum questions.

Ok and thanks for getting back to me so soon, well I’m using Windows 10-64bit and I’m guessing at Default settings, I haven’t changed any of my settings, and I do have another Antivirus Program its called Adaware Antivirus Free, had that for years. And this is a fairly new computer, so I don’t know what the problem is.
