Avast going haywire when updating defs, downloading at 20kb/s. Server problems?

So I’ve been having some issue today, this never happened yesterday or any other day before this.

So about a few hours ago, my Avast was trying to update it’s definitions like normal and for some odd reason the instup.exe was just hanging for over an hour trying to update and it just wasn’t. (Trying to initiate it manually just gave me a message saying the setup was already open) So I turned my settings to manual and restarted and tried manually and it took about 45 minutes to update a 6MB definition file…

I’ve tried everything from uninstalling with avast_clear.exe to reinstalling it again and such and no luck. Even trying to download the antivirus from the avast website takes about an hour, anyone else experiencing this? Or is it just me?

Are the AVAST servers having problems or something? Because it just seems that when it’s trying to update that it’s having problems connecting to the server or something.

Edit: And no, my internet connection is very fast. 130MB, Virgin Media I.S.P, I’ve not had a single problem updating or anything until today.

Quite possibly a temporary Server issue/glitch.

The main problem is… I can’t even reinstall avast because when I try to do so, it just spazzes out again trying to update itself.

My system is currently unprotected, which I don’t like. If this is a server issue, will it be fixed?

I can’t even download avast from the actual website itself either but if I were to download it from third party websites it downloads fine. The installation of avast is also massively delayed, it gets stuck at the /emupdate installer part for about 5 minutes.

Also tried to download stuff from the avast site in Google Chrome and IE10 and still it downloads at about 5kb/s.

Any confirmation from the avast crew on whether this is a known problem? Or can someone else here say they have the issue too? I’d hate to think I’m the only person having this issue at the moment because then I dunno what I’d do.

Have you possibly gone over your allowed data limit and the speed has been curbed :-\

Nope. I did a speed test and I haven’t been throttled. It’s running at 127.87MB/s…

So I take it that is a “no” on other people having the issue then.
