Avast GUI problem and other Avast errors in avastium.log (free version)

I had some kind of PUP on my PC, apparently, which disabled Avast, and I don’t know what else it did. I got help for that at “bleeping computer”, and I’ve been told my PC is now “clean”. I have a problem with the Avast GUI, and I don’t know if it’s related. I’ve been getting long lists of error: archive is password protected (42056) on almost every scan.
I wanted to find a list of the files, to inspect whether these are the “normal” files that avast can’t scan, or whether there’s something more sininster going on. Either way, I went into the scan history, and clicked on the “detailed report” of one of these scans that say some files could not be scanned. For some reason, I accidentally moved the left column divider with my mouse… almost all the way to the left. In other words, that column is now not readable… it’s now wide enough to show much (it’s like 1/2 inch wide!!). Unfortunately, something is wrong with this page. I can not move that divider back to the right with my mouse! It’s locked into this position.
(I tried to insert the image of a screenshot here, but pasting it didn’t work, so I attached it instead.)

So that’s my first problem.

Secondly, in trying to find some sort of log that lists these files that couldn’t be scanned, I came across some interesting logs. It looks like Avast is having problems.

The only Avast log I found under my user name in application data is called avastium.log. There’s a separate one in each of my user accounts in XP. There’s a lot of errors showing dated in the last week or two. I finished running any type of utilities regarding the PUP I had on my PC on November 14. These logs show problems after that. I need to know if Avast is not performing 100%, or is somewhat corrupt. That would make a very big security problem.

I can show the details of those logs here, and perhaps someone KNOWLEDGEABLE can tell me if I should be concerned. There are many entries, going back to 0812, but I only copied the ones that seem to be dated recently.

In an often used administrative User account, the avastium.log contains:

In a limited User Account, where I prefer to operate, the log only contains:

[1105/025311:ERROR:gpu_info_collector_win.cc(102)] Can’t retrieve a valid WinSAT assessment.

The active protection reports do not show anything, except for reporting every time they started and stopped. And some innocuous files it quarantined while I ran another anti-virus software without temporarily disabling Avast (during my quest for the malware that had disabled Avast). Avast never finds ANYTHING. Superantispyware has found PUPs many times, but Avast is not detecting them.

I need to be sure Avast is running as it is supposed to!

Thank you for your help.

The WinSat error seem to be related to Chromium.
What os/sp do you have?
What exact version of avast?
