Avast hangs and I cannot enter registration code

I know I shouldn’t even try to use Win2000 Pro - but it is an old computer and I’m fond of it. And as far as I can tell, this is the ONLY AV programme which now supports 2000.

After endless issues installing version 7, I was helped with in another thread, I FINALLY managed to instal. However, while it has been managing its auto updates OK, I have yet to succeed in registering it. I know from bitter experience last year that it won’t work from the avast screen, so I got the code on my OTHER machine. BUT - every single time - for two days now - I have tried to ENTER it - clicked “registration information” - the computer freezes completely. In 8 days I will be out of time. I have tried in safe mode - nada - not to mention the avast screen in safe mode is so massive I can’t actually SEE the links at the bottom of it…

Any suggestions - PLEASE ?

Asking again, as I am at my wits end, and there are only 5 days to go. :frowning:

Doesn’t ANYone have any ideas ? I am guessing it ties into the freezing problem many people had with the latest update, in another thread…

Are you sure you meet all the minimum requirements:

Alternate methods available for registration:

Yes to the minimum requirements - though my processor is Athlon rather than Pentium - and MASSES of spare space, SP 4 and everything. I will try that email thing - but I suspect it is the page I already tried (being as it is over a week ago now, I forget !) I got me a CODE then - but when I go to register now, the page just hangs before I get a chance to enter it - and the page in safe mode is so huge that if there IS a space to enter it, I can’t see it…

I’ll try it again, though…

Wow - I THINK this time it actually worked. But the last time it said thank you and I was OK it wasn’t OK again the next time I booted up. But thanks - if it falls over tomorrow, I’ll be back !

THANK you !

My pleasure.
