avast! heuristic-warning

hello every one, I am running windows xp i use zone alarm pro and avast free version .Yesterday my email client {EUDORA} got a prompt , informing me Subject: [Avast! heuristic-WARNING]

You are clean.

avast! detected a possible infection in your email, and subsequently warned you.

Thank You , Xistenz , have a nice weekend…danco135

Not a possible virus in this instance but a vulnerability.

The iFrame Tag in HTML code is usually used to insert some variable data into a part of the web page (a frame). This can be misused in an email as it can download content (which could be malicious) when you open the email when still connected.

Some emails use this function to deliver adverts.

Thanks DavidR i will stay alert to see what develops…Have a good one…Danco135

Hi danco135,

With Service Pack 2 installed on XP you are no longer vulnerable to the Iframe tag vulnerability. If you have not done so run SP2.

greets,

I received the same thing today in my Outlook Express, it stopped email from an address that I have received email from before, it said it stopped it because of the subject line, but the problem is how can I read my email? all I can see is who it was from and the I got the warning. This is a very important email and the company won’t be in the office until monday.

How do I read my email?
Thank you

avast didn’t stop it, it alerted you to what it considered a suspicious email, because of the subject line, you then chose the action avast took, it doesn’t do anything autonomously unless you set it up to do so.

You don’t mention what avast felt was suspicious about the subject line, blank, etc. or what the subject line was, this could help.

If you have chosen to delete it you can’t read it, it is gone. If it has been sent to the chest it may be possible to restore it, but I’m not confident this will be possible.
