Avast high disk usage

Lately my laptop lags heavily. I noticed from resmon avastsvc is often having high disk activity. Most of the time, it’s accessing D:\pagefile.sys. This is more noticeable when I alt-tabbing between applications quickly.

is there any way to prevent high disk activity? I choose avast because avast has the lowest memory usage compared to all free AV I tried. If I use another AV my laptop will lag because of low memory.

Add more RAM (if possible).
While Avast is quite light, it still needs to handle the data somewhere.
