After adjusting some of the inf files from “understanding inf files” I could not start up avast! all debug, debug, debug. Reinstalled 4.6.691. Will see what happens. W98SE Thank you. Avie

Hi, welcome to the forums.

Before working with avast4.ini you should make a copy, for this eventuality, a lesson for the future that may avoid this. What were you adjusting that you think may have caused this?

I’m interested to know why the Topic Title is avast home 4.6.665 when you say you reinstalled 4.6.691 (the latest version)?
Even if the version number is corrected in the title it still bears no resemblance to the problem, ‘avast! won’t start after adjusting avast4.ini’ would be more appropriate.

I’ll say that before tweaking avast4.ini file, you’ll need to learn a little more about avast and if you have doubts, jusk ask 8)
