Are there conflicts using Avast Home and also Spybot S. & D. and Spywareblaster?
If there are any conflicts, is there a work around as I don’t really want to remove Spybot or Spywareblaster.
Windows ME.
Thanks in advance.
Also, how can you find and review your recent posts. I tried ‘search’ & ‘show new replies’ at the top of page, without success.
Thanks.
Spywareblaster is a passive component of browsers … there is no software running with it at all. It manages an exception list set up in the browser. avast has no interaction or conflict with this at all.
Spybot S&D is an “on demand” system scan that also has absolutely no interaction or conflict with avast.
The Windows operating system makes no difference for either of these products.
If I may add a little comment to that Spybot if you have “teatimer” turned on is running in the background…I’m not going to comment on the pros and cons of that…some have absolutely no problems…I prefer to turn “teatimer” off as I found it could create problems. Just my 2 cents worth :

Folks have in the past suggested the TeaTimer was implicated in the removal (or prevention of setup) of necessary startup entries in the registry for avast.
If it were the case then I suspect it was more likely due to the mis-application of this feature by the the system user than any actual “conflict” with avast and the new self-protection features of avast should help to overcome any future mishaps.
I have used Spywareblaster for years but always without the resident TeaTimer active. I may be wrong but I cannot recall definite evidence of any problems between TeaTimer and avast being recorded here in the forum.
Hi,
I just was looking answer for this “if avast have conflicting problem with sbybot” because i also had the same problem
when i installed avast it works just fine but when installed sbybot after that it take while thin windows crash(restart without warning)
until i removed sbybot, i tried super anti-sbyware but the same thing only it restart the system immediately
now i run AVG and sbybot and no problem but i feel that AVG slow windows down, i really prefer avast but don’t want drop sbybot
I’m using windows xp sp2
Are you speaking of using the TeaTimer resident portion of Spybot? If not then there is nothing at all in Spybot that anyone has ever suggested conflicts with avast.
Me too and I have never had any conflicts. TeaTimer is a passive protection tool: it controls any changes in your Windows registry that can be suspicious or harmful. It’s up to you as a user to permit or deny such changes. If you have conflicts between Avast and Spybot, I advise you to reinstall the latter and/or clean the lists of your permissions and denials in it.
p.s:I read some where that avast and sbybot using same temp folder and these is what cause problem ;D
It's impossible. Temporary folders are created by every program separately; no program can use the other's temp folder - your operation system won't allow that.
