I am very new to this site only having just discovered it.
I have tried to locate my problem but as I am not a computer techie I am struggling.
I have Microsoft XP on system and have had Avast Home Edition for many months. However, I always get notice to say new version is ready and when I click on the pop-up the response comes back to say “cannot connect to server”.
If I attempt to update via the “A” Blue Ball and select update the same response comes back.
Any help/guidance will be greatly appreciated.

No other anti-virus on computer
Previously had AVG
I am not sure of the exact internet connections to insert for the set-up.
Hi all,
My wife has got a similar problem with updating but it is not related to either firewall or any previous antivirus software.My question is can I remove the present version and reinstall the latest (home/frre) version using her original registration code.
