Please try using this installer instead: avast! English.

That installer is the complete version in English. Please notify us if the installer works.

I’m having issues also. Running a brand-new Windows 7 installation. looks as if for some reason I’m downloading a Vista compatible version. Log:

Same results on the download from both CNET and Avast. Where do I downlaod a W7 version?

Les (Friendly Airplane ASylum flack)

Don’t use the ‘universal install tool’ from the avast website either, use the full install file (~37MB)

I have seen the vista identification on a win7 machine before, not sure what it means though…(I think it doesn’t really matter, notice the build and sp number…)

Use the English setup file. (highlighted in image)

Hi

Getting an error 301 when we attempt to install the downloaded package, any advice please?

Have re-downloaded the package and no change - still cannot install.

Have you used the one highlighted in my image above?
It can be found here:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

It is the second one.

Hi

Yes I have downloaded the packages from both CNet and Avast. It is trying to execute the file for installation that is causing the problem. Either wat, whether I click CNet or Avast link doesn’t the installation files come from Avast not CNet?

What is the download size of the install package you are downloading?
The one I suggested for you to download should be about 37MB

Also, which was your previous AV?
How was it removed?

Previous AV was AVG and it was uninstalled uning uninstall programs. We have the setup eng now - thank for your help

I would also recommend using the avg uninstall tool:
http://www.avg.com/download-tools

Ensure you use the relevant one for your OS type.
