What scan options do you have set? Normal / Thorough?? Archives included?
Question for the experts - should the scanning performance be the same in Home versus Pro? Can’t see that it would be different, but I’d like to know…

Edit: Just did a ‘standard’ scan, local disks (2 x 120Gb) - report attached. You can see the elapsed time which is about 16 minutes. How does that compare with your results, or anyone else’s…??
Some information about your system CPU, RAM, HDD data to be scanned, would help ? As would be the type of scan and settings, etc. ?
Answer by an avast user, they both use the same scan engine and signatures so they should have the same performance. However, you have much greater flexibility in the scan settings and options, which may have an effect.
It would be difficult for anyone to compare results as there is no system info, RAM, CPU (other than your avatar icon), the two 120GB HDDs aren’t full I guess.
avast does not have the fastest scanning on-demand.
But really, it does not take that much resources as other antivirus while running on-access (resident) protection.
Being slow is just fine since it does such a great job at killing the nasties.
