??? I was originally using Panda Antivirus and could not install it from Windows XP. Something about missing the link or uninstall file, so I deleted the directory. I downloaded Avast as my friend uses it and boasts how well it works. It appears to install correctly, I do the reboot and it installs the update but the On-Access-Protection-Control will not run. I right click the avast icon get the OAPC Panel and nothing runs. When I try to start any function I get the message’The requested resident task was not found’ I have tried uninstalling or changing or reinstalling the program but I always get the same message - 'The requested resident task was not found’ Does anybody have any insight to my dillema? Thanks, Ian
Just deleting the folder Panda was in is not removing it completely. Also remove the keys in the registry.
After removing Panda completely, use the uninstall uitl for Avast (can be found on the website), reboot, reinstall Avast. See if that solves it.
I thought that the log might help in seeking solution to my problem.
regarding the registry keys for Panda, I used a registry cleaner to remove them. ??? Thanks for your speedy response. No win here yet.
avast log of errors
Check Avast’s log file for errors and tell us the exact one(s) in there.
