But it didn’t help. Every time, when I login as limited user I get the advertisement: “Why wouldn’t you buy the avast PRO” or something like that(I use my computer in Finnish and don’t remember what read there). And when I start Avast!Antivirus from it’s .exe, it displayes the same message, but then it says: Login as System Administrator to submit licence key. The program works fine on my account, but with every other limited(I’m the administrator) account it does that. It didn’t help that I changed permissions throug regedit??
Does ANYONE have/had the same problem, or does ANYONE know how to deal with that?
I would be pleased if someone could help me, because I don’t want anyone to use my computer without avast! running. The problem is that this computer is used by the other members of my family, almost every day!
Even I use WinXP PRO, it doesn’t mean I’m running a business here? So, there should be a solution for this problem I think that my problem is actually a protection for using Avast!Home in commercial meanings…?
I would suggest you uninstall avast using the same user account you installed it with, then log on as the administrator and install avast and enter the registration key. This way avast should be available for all users on the system. Plus you shouldn’t have to change permissions.
It isn’t a business/commercial protection.
Also do you have more than one user who has administrator rights (as this has been known to cause issues and not just with avast) ?
There’s only two accounts which have administrator rights; my account and THE administrator account(I’m supervising the computer so I’ve got both accounts actually). Okey, I’ll try to uninstall Avast! when I get home.
This could bring troubles… two accounts with admin rights.
But, if you’re using THE administrator account and there is only one more with admin rights, I’ll suggest, that you install avast in the account with admin rights and NOT in the Administrator account… Maybe this could surprise you… but, the majority of the XP computers work this way.
Tech, my reading of this is that there are many user accounts, other than the one account with administrator rights and ‘The Administrator account’
The problem is that this computer is used by the other members of my family, almost every day!
So multiple restricted user accounts, plus TervAleijona_ with admin rights and ‘the administrator’ account. In all the threads I have seen relating to this the recommendation is to install avast as ‘the administrator.’
Well… I think different.
Users don’t need to logon the ‘real’ administrator account.
I have it, I always have it, but I never installed a software through it.
It’s not necessary. I always install avast in an account with administration rights. The only one that have admin rights…
All other things posted, well, do the users really use the ‘real’ administrator account or just posting bla-bla-bla ??? :
Well if the user is experiencing problems

Then it would be wise to try other options because doing what has been done again is unlikely to resolve the existing problem.
