I have checked my settings for internet mail and there is a message on top saying the provider is waiting for a subsystem to start.

I believe you have incorrectly started the Outlook/Exchange provider, this is for Ms Outlook (not express) and the sub system it is waiting for is MS Outlook. Terminate the Outlook/Exchange provider.
As reported a lot of times, the message “The provider is waiting on the subsystem to start” will be shown there until you open MS Outlook.
The plugin will be enabled automatically after that.
But, if you’re saying about the Internet Mail Provider, it is an avast! resident provider and it is not just the corresponding service. If you have Internet Mail running and stop the “avast! Mail Scanner” service, you disable the scanning of e-mails, but you don’t turn the provider into “stopped” state (rather “waiting for a subsystem to start”). Similarly, if Internet Mail is stopped, you cannot start it just by starting the “avast! Mail Scanner” service.
I also have installed avast- antivirus, and im also waiting for the subsystem. What i don
t understand is that everything is working fine.
Ms-Outlook is receiving en sending everything.
My question is “souled i change anything?”
Thanx 4 help
Do you really use (full) MS Outlook - or just Outlook Express?
Like Igor said, most probably the message “The provider is waiting on the subsystem to start” will be shown there until you open MS Outlook.
The plugin will be enabled automatically after that.
But, if you’re talking about the Internet Mail Provider, take in account that it is an avast! resident provider and it is not just the corresponding service. Sorry if this is too technical :-[ :-[
Hi,
I did some searching already on the subject and ended up with this one.
I too get the message “The provider is waiting for a subsystem to start”.
I use outlook 2007 & WinXP.
On another machine I use vista with outlook 2007 and it all works fine.
I already removed avast and reinstalled the whole thing, but still dont get the splash screen of avast when starting outlook. The provider is always waiting for a subsystem. Cant figure out which one though …
Any idea is appreciated.
Thanks,
Rick
EDIT
Hmmm never mind …
After playing a bit more with Outlook 2007 I noticed that avast was in both active and disabled add-ins …
Removing it from the disabled add-ins solved the whole problem …
Make sure the avast plugin is not disabled into MS Outlook.
I could guide you on
Outlook 2003 > Help > About > Disabled items
Outlook 2000 > Tools menu > Options > Other > Advanced Options > Add-In Manager.
I would like to know where it is located on Outlook 2007 though…
Tech,
It was disabled (see edit of message before).
Its located in:
Tools, Trust center, Add-inns, Manage Disabled items ( all the way down in the screen, default selection is COM add-inns), Go.
With me it showed up in the disabled items AND in the Exchange Client Extensions …
Thats why I thought it was fine …
