Ok i have been having problems with the avast icons on my toolbar they dont start up automatically when i sign on i have been looking through the forums and decided to register and ask for help
I found ashDisp and added it to startup it says
aswCmnOS.dll was not found i scanned my HD and there it was so whats the problem with the icons?
i tried reinstalling it didnt work and also i have been told to force install the program but i have no clue how to do so.
The issue with the icons is likely to recur if the cause wasn’t avast.
Have (or did) you have another AV installed in this system, if so what and how did you get rid of it ?
As a temporary measure you can create a desktop shortcut for this file C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashDisp.exe (the avast icon and interface to the providers). Right click on the file and select Send To, Desktop (create shortcut).
What other security based software do you have that might block new startup entries, e.g. Spybot S&D (TeaTimer), AdAware (AdWatch), PrevX, WinPatrol, ProcessGuard, etc. ?
mcafee i had to use the tools and manually uninstall :o
i also have spy bot and xoftspy also i made the shortcut but it still says aswCmnOS.dll was not found even though i have it on my HD
Do you have the TeaTimer element of Spybot enabled as this can interfere with new start-up items ?
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
