hello folks: Avast 4.7 home edition has identified the blue Frog Zip installer and the Blue Frog uninstaller as trojans (Win32:Agent-TC [Trj]). Considering the Blue Frog community is actively fighting against Spammers, I really doubt that this is a real nefarious trojan.
can anybody help with the problem of a false positive?
To know if a file is a false positive, please submit it to JOTTI and let us know the result. If it is indeed a false positive, send it in a password protected zip to virus@avast.com
Please, mention in the body of the message why you think it is a false positive and the password used.
since I am quite happy with the Blue Frog’s anti spam stuff, I deleted the uninstaller and the original zip file. when Blue Frog needs updating, I will get another Zip file for the update and I will not need the unistaller. I have had several recent spams spring Avast alarms claiming to be from Blue Frog (wrong email source address) that sprung Avast’s viral alarms… I, of course, deleted the emails… I will remember to forward things to Jotti in the future. but I am unable to forward the quarantined files…
You can send files to avast from the virus chest, select the file you want to send, right click and select email to Alwil Software. In the pop-up window give a brief outline of the problem, don’t change the default method of sending (IMAP).
If you wanted to upload a file to Jotti, etc. you would have to export it to a temporary location first as it is protected from all outside access other than avast whilst in the chest.
