Hello, A couple of months ago I updated from v4 to v5 and do a full scan about once a week in normal mode. An error message relating to Generic Host Process for Win32 Services kept coming up. I did a scan in Safe Mode using Avast! which showed that the p/c was clean. No virus.
When I startup, I normally don’t sit and wait until startup is complete, so I can’t see what happens, but this time I did. Two things now concern me. The first is when booting in Safe Mode and Avast! has opened there is a message in red that says in effect that the pc is not secure. There is nothing to suggest that this is normal as a result of being in Safe Mode. The second thing that I am concerned about is why, when booting in normal mode, is the Avast! icon showing a triangle with a punctuation mark (!). When clicked it comes up with the message that the pc is not secure. There are no messages that would indicate there is something wrong ie Avast! is not properly installed.
Thank you for the reply to part 1. As for the 2nd part the triangle and exclamation mark, they are at the boot up stage. But when everything has loaded and the Avast! icon has stopped scanning at boot up, if I right click the icon and go to ‘Avast! shields control’ the ‘All shields are on’ area is greyed out. Is this normal?
I thank you in advance of your help.
It’s normal that, for some seconds after login, the icon shows the exclamation point as avast is being loaded.
It’s not normal that, after some seconds (10-60) it does not shown correctly, rotating, with all shields on.
