Bluesman, don’t you think it would be a good idea if they use iNews again, specially because there are 40 million registered users of avast and less than 2000 living forum users?
Yes, I think it would be a good idea, but since it isn’t updated often, I don’t cry over it, and I sleep good at night, I get my news from avast.com and this forum.
But yes, a working iNews feature would be nice, for the poor souls that don’t use the forum.
Well first we had iNews and we then got the ALWIL Software Announcements forum (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=12.0), which hasn’t had an announcement since “Last post July 19, 2005,” so another redundant news medium.
I would tend to agree, information that is out of date is to my mind worse than no information at all and there have been plenty of news worthy occurrences since last year. Unfortunately that decision is outside the remit for the avast ‘users’ that have responded to your post.
There are lots of things that could go there, especially the awards, the 40 millionth download, etc. what ever it is the iNews has to be used and kept current or it is pointless.
Too much noisy in my opinion… few user want to be beeped with vps updates as news.
Do you like SuperAntispyware announces of the contents of the database? I never read them…
Well there is noisy and then there is downright dumb, with not a peep out of iNews for over a year, there has to be a balance of what is news worthy and something which happens very frequently like VPS updates.
4 iNews entries a day in busy VPS update would be torture, even one a day excessive to the point you ignore iNews activity. So what every happens the entry has to be news worthy but more so kept up to date or dropped.
There really shouldn’t be any artificial timetable.
Why not what it should be when there is news, which it was I guess meant to be for and there are news worthy occurrences and Alwil have to decide what purpose they included it and use it for that purpose of remove it.
