Avast inserting message without user's permission

I notice that as of yesterday, 12-22-09, Avast Home 4.8 is inserting a message into incoming mail (and maybe outgoing mail) even though I haven’t selected that option. An email I received today contains the following message at the end:

“No virus found in this incoming message.
Checked by AVG - www.avg.com
Version: 8.5.427 / Virus Database: 270.14.108/2566 - Release Date: 12/21/09
19:13:00”

Can Avast remove this glitch (at least I think it’s a glitch) in the next update?
