Avast interference with v1709 installation?

Is it possible that Avast interfered with any element of the installation of the Windows version 1709 update (coming from v1607) even if I don’t see evidence of that (other than slight sluggishness right after that seems to have gone away after a few minutes)?

It is some time ago that I installed the Fall Creators Update, so this would have been with an earlier version of avast, but I didn’t have any issues.

I believe that bob3160 stopped avast during his update, again probably on an earlier avast versions and he had no problem (though bob3160 would have to confirm that). One thing for sure I wouldn’t disable avast for the update, too long spent on-line with my digital security trousers round my ankles.

Do you mean the same thing by “stopped” and “disable”, or are you referring to two separate actions?

Same thing really, disabling the shields is stopping the avast interaction with downloaded and installed content. I don’t know exactly how bob3160 went about this so I can’t say.

So if I didn’t disable the shields before installing (I literary remembered to do it a few minutes too late :(), can something “behind the scenes” have been interfered with by the active Avast even if I don’t notice any such thing afterwards (at least not yet)?

As I said, it didn’t effect my win10 system.

The only difference being you are pretty late joining the Fall Creators update. I can’t comment on the difference in avast versions or other possible updates delivered at the same time as the fall creators update.

@ ehmen,
It is quite possible to update to 1709 without disabling Avast.
I disabled it only because it makes the likelihood of a problem less likely.
It also speeds up the process. I actually disabled all programs that do any kind of scanning
before I started the process.
This is all personal preference. You need to be your own judge on this.
Since you don’t seem to have any problems, why are you concerned ??? To phrase it differently,
“If you have no problems, why are you looking for one” ???
