Avast Internet Security 2014- Firewall Blocking Everything

Long story short, I have updated to version 2014.9.0.2008 from the 2013 version and the Firewall has started to block all Internet access from my computer. I really don’t know what properties to screw around with to get this working or what additional info would be helpful for debugging. The only thing that my computer is able to access when the Firewall is active is my router. Any help would be appreciated.

OK the firewall drivers changed type with the upgrade

Did not help at all.

I’ve enabled the log function for all packets and looking at the log it just says “No Rule Found”…Any ideas on what rules to add to make this thing have basic functionality? Because I’ve been working on this for 1.5+ hours now, and I’m fresh out of ideas at this point.

Could you open control panel > device manager
And let me know if any options have a yellow triangle

I did not see any in either Icon view or Category view.

OK one further attempt

Download and install the latest version from here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=142550.0 an over the top install should work

Thought that fixed it, because I could get on after I restarted, but that is just because the firewall didn’t start…going to try restarting again.

And when I restarted again the Firewall started and blocked everything again. I decided to mess around with options for the firewall despite having no idea of what they did. Apparently selecting Internet Connection Sharing Mode fixed the problem…I have no idea of what that option does beyond fix my problem, but I guess it is working now.

Are you on a home network ?

Yeah.

Thanks I will file that away for reference
