I’m running Avast Internet Security 7 on Windows XP, SP-3 computer. Is Avasts Firewall Inbound & Outbound when run by itself? or is it just Inbound?
Yes. What do you mean by “when run by itself?”
search firewall. https://support.avast.com/index.php
Avast Firewall running only. Windows XP Firewall Shut off.
Thank you Pondus for the link. I’ll look at it and see what I can find. Looks like a interesting read.
It has both inbound and outbound protection but doesn’t really do much unless you set it to Ask instead of Auto-decide. Auto is good for when you first install AIS to get rules set up for all your most used apps easily but after that, in my opinion, you should set it to Ask so you get prompts to allow or block connections by anything new to the system. If you leave it on Auto, it will blindly allow everything. At least that has been my experience. You can also leave the Windows Firewall on without problems. I would recommend the middle “Work/Medium Risk zone” for the main setting.
It’s a pretty good Firewall that gives two way protection without the hassles that many other third party Firewalls give you.
Thank you Dch48 for your reply.
