Avast Internet Security and Avast Free open Chrome

Hello,

How should I disable this “feature” of opening links from Avast in Chrome?
I don’t appreciate this at all. As any software, it should obey to my OS wide settings. If it “thinks” Firefox is corrupted by a malware, it should state as such instead of opening Chrome.
Also, I have noticed that after installing Avast, I’ve got Chrome installed. Is this Avast or a malware?
Avast is up to date on my PC and didn’t notice any malware.

Regards.

Hi, sounds like you did miss to uncheck the Chrome offer in the installer.
If you don’t need/like it, just uninstall Chrome and pick your default browser.
In case you’re talking about ASB: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=78.0

Hi, I’m talking about Avast Internet Security and Avast Free .
And Avast it is adware then, as long as seems to be hidden by default.
Also, whatever I chose, if I install Chrome after, there MUST be possible to use whatever browser I like for opening the links from Avast UI.
So, where is that option?

Post a screenshot of the installed browser.

That’s irrelevant.

Nope, it isn’t - you might be mixing up GC with ASB.

I’m not.

If so, (as said) just uninstall GC.

Unacceptable.
You can’t request somebody to uninstall a software in order Avast to obey to the system default applications settings.
And I’m talking about Avast Internet Security, which is a commercial version. Even for the free version is unacceptable.
It’s malware behavior.

Well, either post a screenshot or contact support.

What do you expect from that screenshot.
I can tell you:

Google Chrome is up to date
Version 66.0.3359.117 (Official Build) (64-bit)

What do you need more? A proof I have Firefox, Opera, Edge etc…?

Somebody should state how to disable Avast’s “feature” to open in Chrome links from its UI. Just as simple as that.

Well, a simple “I don’t know” would suffice. It’s OK, really. Or simply ignore the post.
