Avast Internet Security and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Hello,
Since 6 months I’m using Avast (free and now AIS) together Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Premium without any issue.
My question is about the compatibility of the next Avast Internet Security with the new MBAM Premium (Anti-Malware + Anti-Explot + Anti-Ransomware all in one). They say that this new MBAM can run together with all Anti-virus but I prefear asking to the Avast experts before upgrading.
Thanks and best regards.

They say that this new MBAM can run together with all Anti-virus but I prefear asking to the Avst experts before upgrading.
This is still a beta so there may be issues > see malwarebytes forum

Thanks Pondus for the advice
Yes I saw that the new beta MBAM have many issue itself but do you think the stable release will be compatible with the stable release of the future Avast ?
Of course you can ask me that this is pure fiction

For many of you, this is something you already know, since over 50% of our customers already run Malwarebytes as their sole security software, without any third-party antivirus. But rest assured, we will continue to support compatibility if you choose to use a third-party antivirus or other security software alongside Malwarebytes 3.0.

I’m using MBAM 3 and Avast but I’m using the free version of Avast. No problems on this system.

Did you get any alert from MBAM before Avast?

I am not testing MBAM 3 Beta at the moment, but I am curious if MBAM Anti-Exploit is compatible with the Avast Sandbox ?

Greetz, Red.

Any alert on what ???

I am running Avast IS with MBAM 3.0 BETA and it’s working perfect.

No issues to report although atm MBAM slows down the system.

I have set exclusions between both.

Ever since MBAM 2.0 mbam became a bit of a memory hog to the point I uninstalled it. I have no idea if MBAM 3.0 is going to address that issue.

Any malware detection.

No but then I haven’t gotten any from Avast either.

Hello Rednose,
I start using Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit 18 months ago together Avast (free till September and now Avast Internet security) on two PCs Windows 10 and during this time I get zero conflict
Regards

It should run fine, there are recommended files to exclude https://forums.malwarebytes.org/topic/190494-malwarebytes-30-beta-other-faqs/ or you can also exclude the complete folder.

You should also place Avast into the Malwarebytes exclusions list.

David, she’s still pretty thirsty on the memory, 237Mb for the service on my Win 10 x64.

Beta 2 is far lighter than beta 1 was by a 100Mb and they’re still working on resource usage but other than a couple of programs behaving a bit sluggish for me it’s pretty good, full threat scans are lightning fast now and that will bump up the memory and push the cpu while running but it’s not necessary to run again if running in real time.

Yes, MBAM is somewhat memory hungry, the issues is that there are actually three elements mbam.exe, mbamservice.exe and mbamscheduler.exe and their combined total can get high.

Only two running services now, MBAMService.exe (240mb) and mbamtray.exe (3.7mb), there is still mbam.exe (39mb) though that is only running if the UI is open.

It does look like they are trying to get a grip on its memory footprint then, but still high.

That said given that MBAM 3.0 is taking on more (AV related) tasks, I would guess it isn’t going to be easy.
