Every time I installed Avast Internet Security I have very slow startups and the computer freezes. Everything takes awhile to open or does not open and I have to hit the reset switch. A few times I just left it there and after about 5 or 10 minutes everything finally operates like it should. When windows start and I open Avast Internet Security it says the Real-time shields are off. When I let is sit there for 5-10 mins then it Avast Internet Security shows everything as normal.
Which other antivirus are you using or used in the past?
Other firewall?
Is your computer clean?
I have a similar problem, startup is fine but i get random freezes when using Avast Internet Security. it can happen when viewing options such as packet filters or other settings. sometimes it happens when your browsing etc.
I even got a bsod “AS something.sys”
I’m using Windows 7 64bit
Please, zip and upload the C:\Windows\Memory.dmp file to this anonymous ftp server: ftp://ftp.asw.cz/incoming
Please, go to folder \windows\minidump and send the newest (recent) .mdmp files for analysis. There is also C:\Windows\Memory.dmp file.
Better if you can compress (zip) them and add some information about the BSOD and the link for this thread.
Or upload it to this anonymous ftp server: ftp://ftp.asw.cz/incoming
Disable Automatic Restart:
System Properties > Advanced > [Startup and Recovery]Settings
Remove the checkmark from “Automatically Restart” in the System Failure section.
Write down the error message number and file name.
Hi, i have uploaded the dmp file:
Zaim, thanks for the minidump. The portion of the code that caused the crash wasn’t changed since v4.8 - so it’s quite a mystery why it happened… I’d like to see kerneldump, which contains a lot more information (e.g. memory buffers) than minidump. Since you’re using Win7, it might be possible that kerneldump is still present in your system, please look at \Windows\memory.dmp (if it’s there, would you mind to compress & upload it somewhere? thanks). If it’s not, it was probably automatically deleted by Windows (it happens if free disk space is < 25GB) - but this can be disabled in registry…
I have been testing several other products. Each time I uninstalled them restarted then ran their uninstaller program restarted then installed the next one. That has nothing to do with it though because I installed Avast Internet Security on a new fresh copy of Windows XP Pro with no firewall or antivirus previously installed.
I have no dump files. I never get a BSOD. Just slow startup and freezes.
Hi, i found the memory dump but its 90mb (after highest compression) so cannot upload it yet, i managed to get the error msg in the bsod
driver-irql-not-less-or-equal
aswndis2.sys
Zaim, does it mean you can’t connect to our ftp? If so, try a 3rd party services, like http://uploading.com. Thanks!
Zaim, got your kerneldump, thanks. This bug was discovered yesterday and it’s already fixed - unfortunately, last public build doesn’t contain that fix. The problem is with packet rule editor, so if it’s possible, I’d suggest you to reduce its using… :-\ or use it during low network activity…
kwl nice to hear its been fixed. any idea on when the next build will be out containing the fix?
Thanks
