I’ve been a Avast Free endorser/user for many years since I do a lot of PC support for friends/family and I truly believe in this product. I even purchased Avast Pro over three years ago just because I wanted to support the company that I installed over 100+ copies of their software…(ok i do a lot of support). Now, after upgrading my pro license to AIS, I’m in love with the product all over again for it’s many amazing features and benefits. I do see a huge benefits to purchased software. Why can’t I get competitive license costs against other major AV providers? I’m talking about the 2 year x 3pc for <$40(usd). I’d love to be able to give a link to my friends and family to upgrade to AIS for a discounted price that beats Norton/McAfee…etc. While some PC’s don’t get infected much, others I look at are full of “bad stuff”(even with Avast installed and regular scans scheduled). Some in my support circle would really benefit from an AIS install, but I lack the ability to “persuade” them with a sweet deal from Avast like many other competitors advertise at newegg and buy.com. I’m looking forward to the next round of reviews of Internet Security products to see if the “reviewers” find all the features packed into the product as amazing as I do. Please help out by providing a competitive pricing model that your “geek” groupies can pass around to get more “paying” customers signed up. Even if it’s only a special you run multiple times a year… I’d be ok with that!
I have no idea where you have been looking ?
If a user upgrades from avast free there is usually a discount, I just checked it out from the Upgrade button in the interface. Now this shows me the price in £ as it recognises the location, but it gives me a price of £49.99 for 2 year license for 3PCs. Whilst that is unlikely to be less than $40 it is still a saving on the normal price. But the idea really has to be does the AV you are going to buy meet the users needs not which one costs the least.
While I’m not sure you read through the entire statement before, I am trying to evaluate the needs of each person. My primary goal, as with any Internet Security Suite(ISS), is to protect PC’s from threats of spyware/malware other harmful viruses and worms floating around. Please see attached “Deal” on Avast website. This is almost double what I can find other ISS.
I think that going from the free version Upgrade button they are likely to find it a better deal than directly from the web site.
But I don’t think that they are likely to get down to < $40 for two years for 3 systems. Even if that were a special offered a few times a year, it may actually have the reverse effect as people don’t take up AIS waiting for specials.
There are occasional deals, seen on Wilders 40% off, etc. but there is no routine to this.
