I bought license for Avast Internet Security that’s about to be expired in 6 months.
Today I notice that Avast has Special Offer Deal of the Week $69.99 for up to 3 PCs with 2 years license.
What I want to know is, will the 6 months remaining license on one of my PC be extended to 2 years and 6 months or simply being forfeited if I buy this Special Offer license?
As far as I’m aware, the new license would be effective immediately, so you would in effect lose that 6 months. You have to decide if even with that loss the overall deal is still worth it.
Normally it is only renewals through the avastUI interface that are able to be linked to the existing license period. Where the special offer, presumable through the avast website would be for a separate license. Not sure if your existing license is for 1PC or 3PCs, which could complicate things further.
You could of course contact sales (at) avast (dot) com and seek confirmation or if your existing license can be modified.
Do not update right now.
The extending license option does not work in some systems (it was called ongoing protection).
There is a no zero possibility to lose your license days.
Of course, you can talk with sales@avast.com to know more.
littlenoe, thanks to your post, I took advantage of the offer. I was trialing AIS on my new laptop with Win7 Pro 64bit SP1, and liked the way it worked. Next is reconfiguring the WinXP machine listed in my signature. There’s 2 days left on this offer if anyone’s interested.
Actually I contacted avats! sales and two thumbs up for their very helpful respond.
I decided to buy and they actually merged my remaining (6 months) license of 1 PC with the 3 PC , 2years Special Offer. So in each PC I now have 2 years and 2 months license of avast! Internet Security.
VERY happy and I recommend avast! to my contacts.
