Avast Internet Security Firewall stops my programs from working

I have Avast Internet Security and its firewall stops all my Software Development IDEs (Eclipse, Android Studio, IntelliJ etc) from communicating with their servers etc. I have added the needed application rules for their executable files (this is in Windows) to “All connections” and yet the Firewall still blocks them. This is very troubling as I can’t use my software without completely disabling the firewall.

Any solution to this? Why don’t the application rules work?

Check in the log file(s) what exactly is blocked.

The last blocked item is from 4 days ago, and has nothing to do with the software.

However, if I de-activate Avast Internet Security Firewall, then the software works since Windows Firewall is re-activated and it works with Windows Firewall. As soon as I activate Avast Firewall back, everything stops working. Basically, all the software says it doesn’t have access to the internet.
