Avast Internet Security Icon

Is the icon for AIS different to Free and Pro? My icon looks as if it is on fire, is this an indicator that firewall is activated, or is the icon not showing correctly. Cheers and Merry Xmas all!

The avast tray icon is the same in all versions, Orange ball with a stylised a in it, which rotates when it is scanning.

Thanks DavidR, I temporarily disabled AIS firewall and the icon changed to look like the one in your post, when I re-activated firewall the ‘flame effect’ returned to the icon, I summize it is an indicator showing firewall is activated! Cheers!

Hi Citykiwi.
I don’t believe that is the case. I also run AIS and I have never seen a “flame effect”.
Please wait for DavidR’s confirmation.
The icon (When AIS is totally securing your system)will look as DavidR has so kindly provided a Snap of the Icon.
No worries

I haven’t heard of anyone else mentioning this (and schmidthouse is using AIS), can you post a screenshot of it, use the Additional Options link in the Reply window to attach the cropped image.

Hi DavidR, Here is what mi Icon looks like, when I disable the firewall it reverts to a ‘normal’ orange ball, with the alert triangle, enabling firewall makes it look like what I call a flame ball…its no big issue as all functions on AIS work perfectly well!

Never heard of the flame ball stuff. Everything is working fine here…

Incidentally I am using AIS ver 6.0.1367 with XP Home fully updated. Cheers all for your replies!

To me for whatever reason that looks more like poor graphics than an attempt at flames. Though why it would have that difference when the AIS firewall is enabled is beyond me.

@ David +1 Thats a first for me.

What the poor graphics or you have never seen the flames or that its beyond me ;D

That’s me for the night 2:50am here.

Thanks DavidR and good night, I am not worried about it, at least I can see the firewall is active at a glance! LOL!!

Just to recap peoples, have solved the problem by increasing graphics setting from 16 bit to 32 bit, now have a normal avast ball…the fire is out!

Mystery solved.

Thanks

Ah, graphics it was then, weird to get that effect when the firewall is enabled though.
