Added Internet Security to our AVAST Free Anti-virus. The first thing we noticed was that Windows Media Center and HDHomerun would no longer let us view TV programs and would no longer record them, either. Apparently, the Windows Firewall was superceded by AVAST’s own software firewall and it was blocking WMC and HDHomerun apps. There may be other blockages but I didn’t wait to discover them (mmm, what about Steam, Netflix, Origin, etc.?). We uninstalled Internet Security, but the WMC/HDHomerun problem of no access remained. So, I restored a Windows full System Image and that resolved the problem.
I’m posting this just to let others know there may be issues with this software depending upon your Windows setup and how you use it.
Set the Avast FW to private mode.
