This morning I went to log on my computer and Avast would not work. I get a message "UI failed to load, This is really embarrassing, AV service not responding. I had been using VPN. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software but it still is doing the same thing. Help!
Do u try repair?
Repair Avast:
- Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
- Click on ‘Repair’.
- Follow instructions.
- Reboot.
Yes, I did that with no change.
Clean Install of Avast:

Do you have any other security (related) software installed ? (or did you)
What OS/SP ?
What exact version of avast ?
I’m running Windows 10 and Avast Internet Security 17.5.23.02 build 17.5.3559.0
Just checked and McAfee scan was installed. I uninstalled it. The only thing I updated was Adobe Flash Player to v26
I uninstalled Adobe Flash Player and the new Avast will not take an activation code. Should I try a system restore to a date when it all last worked?
I performed a system restore to late June and that seems to have done the trick. Now the only problem I’m having is that even though I activated and inserted the license, good until 5/2018, it says it’s trial software and is only good for 30 days. Any suggestions?

Download the license file through your avast account.
After downloading it, double click on the file.
Does this solved the problem ?

I don’t know what I did but everything seems to be fine now, for the moment. I had all sorts of trouble running Windows in safe mode, it kept locking up on the log in screen. The work around was to log in as a different user then log in to my regular account. Really weird stuff. I ran Windows Repair but Avast stopped working after I did and I was attempting to do a clean uninstall of Avast and never got the machine to boot into safe mode. When I booted back into Windows 10, everything was working, the license was up to date and the problems I was having with the internet seems to have cleared up. Do I need to install a gremlin bell on my computer?
