Avast Internet Security & SPAM

I have a couple of questions:

  1. If I turn off AntiSpam under Additional Protection> Antispam, will my emails still be scanned for viruses
  2. I have Antispam running, and under Expert Settings, I have the checkbox for “Mark in subject of spam messages” UNCHECKED
but I still get *** SPAM *** on emails.

Any help would be great… Bob Gregory

  1. yes
  2. could it be from your mail client ?

Thank you for #1. I may turn off Antispam. #2 I don’t think so. I am using Outlook 2010 and I have never seen spam this way and I have gotten it from Outlook prior to Avast.

You may want to look at this

Thank you Nesivos. I will take a closer look at this but rules are usually set up to detect certain phrases and then direct the email to some folder or delete it. I don’t want to do this… I just want to remove the phrase *** SPAM *** from the subject, especially since it isn’t in my case.

I use Thunderbird which does a good job of catching Spam, sometimes too good LOL

I hear you about wanting to remove the phrase “Spam”. In AIS you can change the description from “Spam” to whatever you like and “Whitelist” full email addresses or domains. Go to Anti-Spam under “Additional Protection” and make the changes.
