I have the paid subscription to Avast Internet Security. I have spent the last few days sending emails back and forth with the company and speaking with tech support over the phone. TED (The Energy Detective) footprints is a local html page that is being blocked by avast. I showed the techs several times how their software was blocking the page and was ultimately told that I would need to pay ~$120 to have their tech fix the issue. They stated that this was an issue with my computer not their software. If you turn off web shield and safe apps then the blocking stops and you are able to access footprints. I have a recent computer build, (within the last few weeks) running Win 10 Pro 64bit and minimal bloatware. I have been a pro computer tech for the last 20 years, with multiple industry certs and College degrees. Based on poor customer support and essentially being told I don’t know what I am talking about, I am no longer going to do business with this company. You can use the work around I have listed above, or just take my statements with a grain of salt. Thanks for reading my rant, as I am currently uninstalling Avast from all of my computers.
There is no phone support from avast.
That is a third party company that only handles certain things for avast.
If you haven’t done so already, create a ticket.
