I have been using Avast for years, the Freeware version with the Outpost Firewall PRO.

Recently as a member of Wilders Security Forums, I purchased Avast! Internet Security for 3 years and for 3 PCs. I have couple of questions.

  1. How to use the firewall to block a program from outgoing connections?

  2. In my son’s PC the Avast! services are running, but the icon doesn’t show up in the taskbar. Do I need to uninstall and re-install?

  1. Open avast > Firewall > Application rules (edit or change a rule).
  2. Check if Settings > Basic > Show avast! tray icon is checked. Or, can you try to repair your installation?
    Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
