avast! IRC?

Anyone think it would be cool to have an avast! channel on an IRC server or some other chat medium? (I am an IRC Operator of a nearly empty IRC network) It would make troubleshooting problems easy, and would be a fun way for forum members to communicate

If there is already somthing like this, or this is a stupid idea, I will put on my dunce cap and sit in the corner

IRC could be a fast alternative for support where you need to ask multiple questions in a small timeframe.

RedSector, please get in contact with Artras. He already has an IRC channel:
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=9;action=display;threadid=3344;start=msg27940#msg27940

He stated there:
I got an idea. Let’s setup a IRC channel for real time support on problems with Avast. We got over 3200 forum members (and it is still growing) and a lot of active members who know a lot about Avast. A irc channel might be a addition to this forum. I’m willing to setup a channel and providing a bot to watch/secure/automate the channel. Let me know what you people think of this idea. I’m also willing (ofocurse) to be in the channel a lot.

Just let me know peoples. Any ideas/reactions/suggestions are welcome. Just give it a thought.

I thinks it would be cool! Live support could be really usefull for some people. Unless you have an irc network in mind, I am an operator at a computer security focused network. irc.sourcehack.net We would be happy to have you. If you want to stick with the DALnet server, I will be sure to join. if you need more details about irc.sourcehack.net, just ask

This is up to Alwil team…
In my opinion, these forums could give enough and fast help. But, all channels will be good ones to avast 8)

The statistics from #Avast can be found here:

thanx

The #Avast (Avast channel) is still open on the DalNet Irc network.
Feel free to visit it.

Devellopments:

 • Currently writing scripts for my bot so it can answer certain questions about Avast automaticly.
 • Planning to create a small website with instructions on how to use IRC and how to get on #Avast, perhaps with a Java applet to automaticly login.
